What is Inuyasha?
The question is not what Inuyasha is, but who? Inuyasha, is a boy that just so happens to be half dog-demon and half human and he is on a search for a jewel called the Jewel of Four Souls, or the Shikon no Tama. He locates it, but also finds its protector, a miko by the name of Kikyou. Kikyou protects it and Inuyasha keeps coming back to "go after the jewel" and see Kikyou. Unexpectedly, they fall in love and Inuyasha is prepared to use the Jewel to become human. But, an evil character named Naraku tricks the two into betraying eachother and Kikyou pins Inuyasha to a tree before she dies.
Kagome, a young girl that is the reincarnation of Kikyou unexpectedly falls down the well in her family's shrine after chasing her cat buyo in there on her birthday. She is transported to the past where she finds Inuyasha after fifty years have passed. She breaks the spell and Inuyasha is released. A demon attacks Kagome and tears the Shikon no Tama from her side, which mysteriously was born into her. Inuyasha kills the demon and saves Kagome, but Kagome is next in line when Inuyasha mistakes Kagome for Kikyou because of their resemblance. Kagome is saved by Kikyou's younger sister when she throws an enchanted necklace over Inuyasha's head and an enchanted word causes him to crash to the ground, SIT! Kagome can now control Inuyasha with the enchanted word and is in possession of the Jewel. When a demon snatches it, Kagome shoots it with an arrow and accidentally shatters the jewel. Feeling bad for what she has caused, herself and Inuyasha set out to regain the pieces and the adventure begins....
