Here are the main characters:
Inuyasha: Inuyasha is a Hanyou, or Halfbreed. His mother was a human and his father, a powerful dog demon. His first love was a miko named Kikyou, whom he met on his search for the Shikon no Tama, which could turn him full demon. He was ridiculed and teased his whole life for his breeding and even his half brother Sesshomaru, who is a full blooded demon, constantly points out his worthlessness. Inuyasha, because of his human blood, has one night a month, the new moon, in which he turns completly human and has black hair with no cute little doggy ears. Also, on some occasions, when he is without his powerful inherited sword the Tetsusaiga, his demon blood has taken over and he has become a seemigly full blooded demon. A little cocky and hot tempered, Inuyasha also has a caring side which you see countless times with Kagome......

Kagome Higurashi: Kagome Higurashi, the girl from the future. She stumbles across a well that transports her to the past. She releases Inuyasha and shatters the Shikon no Tama. Now, out of guilt has agreed to help collect all the shards along with Inuyasha. She is constantly worrying about her schooling back home in the future and returns as often as possible. She is the reincarnation of Kikyou, but very different from her. She is bubbly and cheery, but loses her temper a lot around Inuyasha. She has fallen in love with Inuyasha, but when Kikyou rises from the dead, she feels torn apart from him as he constantly returns to her. Her feelings are often hurt when Inuyasha refers to her as nothing but a Shard Detector because of her power to see the shards when they are embedded in a body.

Shippou: Shippo is still a young fox-demon. His father was killed by Manten, and made into a stole. With Kagome and Inuyasha's help, he managed to get the fur of his father back. The fur, which is the remains of Shippo's father, actually protected and save Kagome and Shippo at one point. He uses a variety of toys and tricks. But, since he is still young, he hasn't reached his full potential. However, his tricks and toys do help Inuyasha sometimes in a battle. Shippo's projectile attack is "Kitsunebi", fox fire. Not to mention that he can change into different objects.

Sango: Sango is the daughter of the leader of the Demon Exterminators. Thanks to Naraku, her father, younger brother and comrades of her village were killed. Sango eventually becomes part of Inuyasha's group, but not before she stole Inuyasha's Tessaiga. She did this in order to try and save Kohaku's life, which she found out that he was still alive, and was being controlled by Naraku. Sango's attack uses a giant boomerang. The boomerang's name is also the name of her attack, Hiraikotsu. It is said she has a "thing" for Miroku.

Miroku: Miroku is a traveling monk. He has a habit of "feeling up" women when they least expect it. The first thing he almost always says when he meets a beautiful women is, "Please bear my child." Actually, Miroku has a strong sense that tells him when evil is near by. If he uses his Kazaana, the black hole in his right hand, he can "suck" monsters and other things into his hand, disappearing forever. But, if Miroku uses the Kazaana too often, it'll grow wider, and one day it'll kill him by sucking himself into the black hole. In order to keep the Kazaana closed when he's not using it, Miroku uses one of his bead charms to keep it sealed. When he takes the beads off, he can use it. If Naraku's Saimyoushou, the poisonous bugs, get inside Miroku's Kazaana, they poison him. That's why he can't use it when these bugs come near him. Sometimes Miroku also uses his staff to fight as well. He also has the ability to use ofuda, a.k.a. the charms written on paper strips, to seal off places to demons or various other limitations. Because of a curse put on Miroku's family, the Kazaana passes from generation to generation. Miroku's father had the Kazaana as well, and was killed by it sucking him in. Miroku inherited it from his father, and carries the burden now.

Kikyou: Kikyou is the priestess who guarded the Shikon no Tama from demons, in order to keep the humankind safe. She is the one who enchanted Inuyasha. Her arrow put Inuyasha into a sleep that everyone believed was death. Only one of Kikyo's blood is able to pull this arrow out. 50 years later, Kikyo's reincarnated form is believed to be Kagome. In the past, Kikyo actually befriended Inuyasha, later leading to a romance. Because of a deception, Kikyo thought Inuyasha betrayed her, and fought with him, putting the enchantment on him. As she lay dying, Kikyo told her younger sister, Kaede, to burn the Shikon no Tama with her remains. She wanted to be rid of the source of so much sadness and destruction. 50 years later, Kikyo was resurrected by Urasue. This old lady took Kikyo's spirit and soul from Kagome, and put it back into her "Kikyo", who is doll-like without her spirit. Whenever Kikyo's soul is taken from Kagome, Kagome is unconscious. However, once Kagome manages to get her soul back from Kikyo, Kikyo only has one option to keep living. She has to steal the souls from the living in order to keep herself going. In order to do this she uses her Shinidamachuu. (Serpent like creatures that carry the souls from the living to Kikyo. It translates as Death-soul Insects)

Naraku:Naraku is the enemy of Inuyasha and his party. Inuyasha dislikes him because it was Naraku who tricked him and Kikyo. Because of Naraku's trickery, Kikyo ended up dead, Inuyasha was enchanted, and their relationship was destroyed. Part of the reason he did this is because Naraku himself grew to like Kikyo. Naraku was not always a demon, and was once human. He had been badly hurt, and it was Kikyo and her sister Kaede that had taken care of him. Because of her kindness, known as Onigumo before Naraku, that was why he grew fond of her. However, Onigumo craved more power, and couldn't stand his useless, unable to move state. So, he let the demons that kept coming to the cave where he was stowed eat his soul and become part of him. In return, Onigumo became Naraku, gaining more power. Naraku can change forms as he sees fit, usually going from one human host to another.

Sesshoumaru: Sesshoumaru is Inuyasha's older brother. However, he is a full-blooded demon, unlike his half demon/half human younger brother. The brothers share the same father but have different mothers. Sesshoumaru doesn't like Inuyasha, and is always trying to defeat him or steal the Tetsusaiga from him. Sesshoumaru's little helper is Jaken. Even though Sesshoumaru mistreats him, Jaken is loyal to him, and helps him out when he can.
